Risk Assessment of the Department’s Grant Closeout Process

We performed a risk assessment of the Department’s grant closeout process, as required by the Grants Oversight and New Efficiency (GONE) Act of 2016, Public Law 114-117. Our objective was to perform the required risk assessment to determine whether an audit or review of the Department’s grant closeout process was warranted.

We determined that the risk level of the Department’s process was moderate and that an audit or review is warranted, as our review identified risks with the reliability of the Department’s grant data and related GONE Act reporting.

The report did not include any recommendations.
